Job Purpose
The
Receivables & Credit
Control Manager is
responsible for the strategic and operational management of accounts
receivable, credit control and customer debt recovery.
The
role ensures efficient cash flow, disciplined credit risk management, timely
collections and strong financial controls while driving team performance and
operational excellence.
The
position plays a critical role in safeguarding company revenue, minimizing bad
debt exposure and supporting sustainable financial stability.
Key Responsibilities
Accounts
Receivable & Invoicing Management
- Oversee the full receivables cycle from order confirmation to
invoicing and payment collection.
- Ensure all deliveries, projects and tenders are accurately and
timely invoiced.
- Maintain accurate customer accounts and reconciliations.
- Prevent revenue leakage through documentation and billing controls.
- Verify pricing, discounts and contractual terms before invoicing.
Credit
Control & Risk Management
- Develop and enforce customer credit policies and credit limits.
- Conduct credit risk assessments for new and existing customers.
- Monitor customer exposure and escalate high-risk accounts.
- Approve credit terms in line with company policies and risk
frameworks.
- Maintain structured credit documentation and compliance records.
Debt
Collection & Cash Recovery
- Drive structured debt recovery strategies for overdue and high-risk
accounts.
- Monitor and actively manage yellow and red-category debtors.
- Implement targeted recovery plans and payment arrangements.
- Escalate high-risk accounts and recommend legal recovery action
where necessary.
- Maintain documentation of all recovery actions and customer
engagements.
Receivables
Monitoring & Financial Reporting
- Prepare and maintain accurate receivables dashboards and reports,
including:
- Debtor aging reports
- Collection performance analysis
- Cash flow projections
- Credit exposure reports
- High-risk account summaries
- Submit weekly and monthly receivables reports to management.
- Provide actionable insights to improve collection efficiency.
- Ensure reconciliations and adjustments are properly reviewed and
approved.
Customer
Account Reconciliation & Dispute Resolution
- Perform regular customer account reconciliations.
- Resolve invoice disputes, pricing discrepancies and payment queries.
- Collaborate with sales and operations teams to address customer
issues.
- Maintain accurate documentation of resolutions and account
adjustments.
Cross-Department
Coordination
- Work closely with Sales, Operations and Finance to align collections
with business processes.
- Support sales teams in managing customer payment expectations and
credit compliance.
- Ensure invoicing accuracy and timely documentation to prevent
revenue delays.
- Address interdepartmental issues affecting collections and cash
flow.
Qualifications &
Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration
- Additional Diploma in Debt collection/Debt Recovery is preferred
- CPA (K) / ACCA or equivalent (preferred)
- 5–7 years experience in receivables, credit control or financial
management
- 3+ years in supervisory/management roles
- Strong debt recovery and financial reporting expertise
- Proficiency in ERP/Accounting systems (Sage or similar)
