About The Role
We are
looking for a Social Media Executive to support the day-to-day management and
publishing of social media content across MB96’s channels and selected client
accounts. This is a hands-on junior role focused on publishing, community
management, creative coordination and basic social media reporting. You will
work closely with the wider creative team to keep approved content moving from
creative production through to publication and audience engagement. The ideal
candidate is comfortable working at the intersection of social media, culture
and creative content. You should understand how audiences behave differently
across platforms and be able to communicate naturally and authentically with
Kenyan audiences.
Key Responsibilities
Social
Media Publishing & Account Management
- Manage
day-to-day publishing across Facebook, Instagram, X and TikTok
- Schedule
and publish approved content accurately, according to each platform’s
requirements
- Use
tools such as Meta Business Suite and TikTok publishing tools
- Ensure
captions, creative assets, tags and links are correct before content goes
live
- Maintain
planned publishing schedules and flag issues that may affect delivery
Community
Management
- Monitor
comments, mentions and direct messages across social media platforms.
- Respond
to audiences on behalf of the brand in a natural, helpful and appropriate
tone.
- Adapt
communication to different platforms and audiences.
- Communicate
comfortably in English, Kiswahili and Sheng, where appropriate.
- Identify
questions, complaints or sensitive issues that require escalation.
Creative
Coordination
- Coordinate
with designers, content creators and other team members to ensure required
assets are received on time.
- Track
outstanding creative assets, copy and approvals.
- Keep
approved content moving from planning through to publication.
- Follow
up on missing or delayed assets and communicate potential publishing
delays early.
Reporting
& Insights Analysis
- Extract
accurate performance figures from social media platforms.
- Compile
basic weekly or monthly social media reports.
- Track
key metrics such as reach, impressions, engagement, followers and content
performance.
- Identify
notable changes in performance and highlight content that performed
particularly well or poorly.
- Where
possible, suggest practical improvements based on observed performance.
WHAT YOU BRING
- Approximately
1 year of relevant social media experience, or at least six months of
substantial hands-on experience.
- Practical
experience personally operating or managing one or more brand, business,
organisation or client social media accounts.
- Practical
understanding of Facebook, Instagram, X and TikTok, including their
formats, publishing requirements and how audiences interact with each
platform.
- Hands-on
experience scheduling and publishing content, including familiarity with
Meta Business Suite and TikTok publishing tools.
- Experience
personally responding to comments and DMs on behalf of a brand, business
or organisation.
- Ability
to write and communicate naturally in Kiswahili/Sheng and adapt responses
to different audiences and brand voices.
- Strong
attention to detail when publishing content and handling social media
information.
- Ability
to coordinate creative assets, track outstanding items and follow through
to publication.
- Ability
to accurately extract platform performance data and compile a basic
report.
- Ability
to clearly explain your own contribution to social media work,
particularly where you have worked as part of a team, agency or
internship.
- Experience
managing a LinkedIn company page is an added advantage.
- Ability
to explain changes in social media performance and suggest practical
improvements is an added advantage.
- A
portfolio or other evidence demonstrating direct account operation is an
added advantage
