Job Title: Finance Assistant (Internship)

Responsible for supporting accounts payable activities, verifying invoices and payment documents, maintaining accurate financial records, assisting with reconciliations, processing financial documents, supporting reporting, and ensuring finance records are properly organised and updated. Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, Economics, or a related field. The position is based in Nairobi and requires on-site work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accounts Payables Support: Assist in preparing payments by verifying invoices and supporting documentation for expenses.
  • Records Management: Maintain organized and accurate financial records (both digital and physical) to ensure easy retrieval.
  • Treasury Support: Provide support in daily, weekly, and monthly treasury activities, including tracking basic financial movements.
  • Accounts Receivables Support: Assist in monitoring billing and follow up with the relevant teams to support timely collections.
  • Financial Systems: Help maintain accurate and up-to-date records of financial transactions in accounting systems.
  • Cash Tracking: Support the tracking of cash movements for program funding and assist in basic reconciliations under supervision.
  • Compliance Support: Assist in ensuring proper documentation and timely filing of statutory deductions (e.g., PAYE, NSSF, VAT, etc.) under guidance.
  • Reporting: Support preparation of monthly financial reports and summaries.
  • Audit Support: Assist in organizing documents and information required for audits.
  • Cross-functional Support: Work closely with the business development team to provide basic financial and administrative support.
  • Accounts Payables: Preparing payments with correct supporting invoices and documents, for all expenses

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related business field
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting
  • Progress in professional qualifications (CPA, ACCA, or equivalent) is an added advantage
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications; familiarity with accounting systems is a plus
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn
  • Good organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Flexibility and willingness to support tasks beyond core responsibilities when required
