Responsibilities
- Medium-term plan:
- Reviews, analyses and finalizes the preparation of the medium-term
plan and its revisions on the basis of departmental submissions, taking
into account recommendations and decisions of specialized
intergovernmental bodies including Conferences of Parties of Multilateral
Environmental Conventions.
- Provides substantive support to relevant intergovernmental and
expert bodies in their review of the medium-term plan and its revisions;
secures approval from the General Assembly. United Nations Environment
Assembly (UNEA)
- Ensure legislative mandates are accurately translated into program
budgets.
- Performs other related duties, as assigned.
Qualifications
- Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in
business administration, finance, or related field is required.
- A first-level university degree in combination with two (2)
additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the
advanced university degree.
- Successful completion of either degree or non-degree programs in
data analytics, business analytics or data science programs is desirable.
Work Experience
- A minimum of seven (7) years progressively responsible experience in
finance, administration, budget, business administration or related area
is required.
- Experience preparing donor reports and financial statements is
required.
- Experience working with International Public Sector Accounting
Standards (IPSAS) is required. Enterprise resource planning (ERP) and with
international organizations is desirable.
- Experience in developing and reviewing strategic programme and
budget documents for UNEP‑administered MEAs, including support to
intergovernmental approval processes, is desirable.
- Experience providing authoritative budgetary and analytical support
to MEA secretariats and intergovernmental bodies, including during budget
preparation and review cycles, is desirable.
- Experience in coordinating administrative processes across MEAs,
including knowledge‑management systems, workplan development, and
oversight of trust fund accounts, is desirable.
