Snr Research Fellow (Project Coordinator) Job in Kenya - UoN

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the day-to-day implementation of project activities across study sites.
  • Ensure compliance with the ACHIEVE protocol, CEPI reporting requirements, and University of Nairobi regulations.
  • Oversee project planning, staff supervision, training, and capacity building.
  • Monitor project timelines, budgets, and financial accountability in collaboration with the Finance Manager.
  • Facilitate quality assurance, ethical compliance, and adherence to Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and Good Laboratory Practice (GLP).
  • Represent the project in stakeholder meetings and reporting forums.

Job Specification


  • Master’s degree in Public Health, Veterinary Medicine, Epidemiology, Clinical Studies, or a related field.
  • PhD in Environmental Science, Agricultural Science, or a related field.
  • At least 10 years’ experience managing complex, donor-funded health or research projects in low-resource, multi-site settings, with a focus on arid and semi-arid regions, including oversight of diverse field teams and cross-functional coordination.
  • Demonstrated leadership in project coordination involving multiple stakeholders, including academic institutions, government agencies, local communities, and international donors.
  • Proven experience coordinating the implementation of field-based research projects.
  • Strong understanding of zoonotic disease surveillance, outbreak investigation, and health systems strengthening in pastoralist or rural communities.
  • Experience ensuring compliance with research protocols, ethical standards, and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and/or Good Laboratory Practice (GLP).
  • Ability to oversee and support capacity-building initiatives for local research and health personnel.
  • Competence in quality assurance, data integrity, and monitoring of project performance indicators.
  • In-depth knowledge of Isiolo County’s health and operational landscape is an added advantage.
  • Strong commitment to equity, ethics, and community engagement in research.
  • Ability to work independently and travel frequently to project sites.

Terms of Appointment

The appointment will be for a one (1) year contract, renewable subject to performance and availability of funds.
