Role Purpose
The Operations Lead will coordinate and oversee all
machinery and field operations to ensure timely and efficient land preparation,
irrigation setups, planting, spraying, and harvesting across all
Finagra-managed farms and farmer clusters. The position ensures that all
mechanization and field operations are conducted efficiently, safely, and in
alignment with Finagra’s goal of enhancing farmer productivity through proper
input utilization and land management practices.
Key Responsibilities
Field Operations Coordination
- Plan, schedule, and oversee all mechanized operations
including ploughing, harrowing, ridging, planting, and spraying.
- Ensure timely mobilization of machinery, fuel,
operators/service providers, and field teams for early land preparation
and planting.
- Supervise and track performance of tractors, planters,
sprayers, and related equipment to ensure maximum uptime and efficiency.
- Liaise with Agronomy and Input Supply teams to align machinery
schedules with agronomic calendars.
- Oversee post-harvest operations such as harvesting, threshing,
baling, and transport logistics.
- Oversee key farm installations I.e drip lines and other
irrigation operations
- Schedule irrigation regimes for different crops
Resource Planning and Allocation
- Develop weekly and monthly operational work plans in
coordination with regional and farm teams.
- Liaise with area managers to coordinate the deployment of
machinery, drivers, and support staff according to area priorities.
- Monitor labor and fuel utilization to minimize waste and
enhance productivity where necessary.
- Maintain records of machine hours, actual area covered, and
overall work quality output for data-driven decision-making.
Maintenance and Compliance
- Ensure all machinery and implements leased are properly
serviced and maintained before deployment.(Where we are directly
responsible)
- Maintain service provider work cads/ logs .
- Ensure all field operations adhere to safety, environmental,
and operational standards.
- Implement and enforce the company’s Health, Safety, and
Environment (HSE) policy.
Team Supervision and Performance Management
- Monitor machinery service providers and field support staff.
- Conduct daily and weekly briefings to ensure clarity of
targets and adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Assess training needs where possible for service providers in
order to align with FINAGRA SOP’s
- Conduct periodic performance reviews and recommend performance
improvement plans where necessary to Franchisees or area managers.
Reporting and Data Management
- Prepare and submit operational performance reports (machinery
efficiency, output vs. target, downtime analysis, etc.).
- Provide input into seasonal reports covering timelines,
challenges, and recommendations.
- Maintain accurate operational data to support management
decisions and planning.
- Track weather patterns and field conditions to support
informed operational scheduling.
Stakeholder Coordination
- Liaise with farmers, franchisees, and Finagra’s agronomy teams
to align operational plans with crop calendars.
- Support field verification and readiness assessments before
mechanization activities.
- Collaborate with the finance team for machinery cost recovery
and operational budgeting.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agricultural Engineering,
Mechanization, or related field.
- Diploma holders with extensive practical experience in
mechanized farming may be considered.
Experience
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in large-scale or mechanized
farming operations.
- Proven experience managing farm machinery fleets and
coordinating field activities across multiple sites.

regular travel to field sites and partner farms across regions.
