Position Summary
Reporting
to the Chief Accountant/Finance Manager, the E-Commerce Accountant will be responsible for end-to-end accounting of the
Kikapu Chetu platform, including reconciliations between online sales systems,
payment gateways, and bank accounts. The role ensures accurate financial
reporting, statutory compliance, and cost control within a fast-paced digital
commerce environment.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Financial
Management
- Maintain complete and accurate accounting
records for Kikapu Chetu in QuickBooks.
- Manage accounts payable/receivable, journal
postings, and general ledger reconciliations.
- Prepare weekly and monthly cash-flow forecasts,
variance analyses, and management reports.
Reconciliations & Controls
- Perform daily reconciliations across Shopify,
payment gateways (e.g. Pesapal), and bank statements.
- Investigate and resolve variances, refunds, and
chargebacks promptly.
- Implement and maintain financial control
procedures for online transactions and returns.
Reporting
& Compliance
- Produce monthly financial statements (P&L,
balance sheet, cash flow) with variance explanations.
- Ensure timely and accurate filing of VAT, PAYE,
and WHT returns.
- Support both internal and external audit
processes.
Budget
& Cost Management
- Track operational and marketing spend against
budgets; flag deviations beyond 5%.
- Provide input on pricing, promotions, and
payment-fee structures to protect margins.
- Optimize supplier payments and manage cost
efficiencies.
Cross-Functional
Support
- Partner with the E-Commerce Manager to align
sales data with finance reports.
- Support marketing and operations teams with data
on sales trends, promo performance, and inventory costing.
- Provide payroll inputs for e-commerce staff as
required.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or
Commerce.
- CPA (K) / ACCA (part or fully qualified).
- 3–5 years accounting experience (preferably in
e-commerce or retail).
- Hands-on proficiency in QuickBooks, Shopify, and
Excel (Pivot Tables, Lookups).
- Working knowledge of Kenyan taxation (VAT, PAYE,
WHT) and IFRS principles.
- Proven accuracy, integrity, and strong
analytical skills.
