Deputy Finance Officer Grade 14 (2 posts) -EU/DVC/AFP/2025 -0926

Applicants MUST have the following academic/professional qualifications and requirements:

  • Must have a Master’s degree in finance or related field
  • Must have a Bachelor’s degree in finance or related field.
  • Must be Certified Public Accountant (CPA -K) or its equivalent
  • Must be a member of a relevant professional body and in good standing.
  • Must have a minimum of ten (10) years relevant work experience, five (5) of which must be at senior level
  • Strong knowledge of International Public Sector Accounting Standards, accounting principles, financial regulations, and budgeting.
  • Must have Proficiency in accounting software and ERPs (e.g. Microsoft Dynamic 365
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Assist in the preparation and monitoring of budgets, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Support the Chief Finance Officer in the management of financial records, including accounts payable and receivable.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
  • Participate in financial audits and ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
  • Help maintain accurate financial records and ensure timely reconciliation of accounts.
  • Assist in maintenance of effective accounting systems in the university in line with the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Assist in formulation and implementation of the departmental strategic plan.
  • Oversee cash flow management and banking operations.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of financial policies and procedures.
  • Support payroll processing and related financial activities.
  • Help identify areas for cost reduction and efficiency improvements.
  • Coordinate with other departments to provide financial guidance and support.
  • Assist Chief Finance Officer in Supervision of the Finance Department staff
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Chief Finance Officer.
