About the Role

Warui & Irungu Company Advocates is seeking an organised, proactive, and detail-oriented Secretary / Paralegal to support its legal team across the Kikuyu and Westlands offices.


This is an integrated role combining legal secretarial and paralegal responsibilities, with a strong focus on running down matters, personal injury claims, and motor vehicle accident cases. The successful candidate will support the management of client files, court processes, legal documentation, and liability and quantum assessments.

Key Responsibilities

Legal & Running Down Matters

  • Draft court pleadings, affidavits, notices, legal correspondence, and trial documents.
  • Conduct liability assessments and quantum evaluations for running down matters.
  • Review and track police abstracts, medical reports, treatment records, and insurance correspondence.
  • Prepare trial bundles, lists of documents, and authorities for court appearances.
  • File and follow up on court documents through e-Filing systems and physical court registries.
  • Support advocates in preparing and progressing personal injury and motor vehicle accident claims.

Secretarial & File Management

  • Open, organise, and maintain accurate physical and electronic client files.
  • Monitor court diaries, bring-ups, limitation periods, and other critical deadlines.
  • Coordinate administrative communication between the Kikuyu and Westlands offices.
  • Handle client communication, telephone calls, correspondence, and incoming/outgoing mail.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of client and firm information.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Diploma in Law with at least 2 years of relevant experience; OR
  • At least 4 years of hands-on legal secretarial/paralegal experience with demonstrated ability to perform the duties outlined above.
  • Proven experience handling running down, personal injury, or motor vehicle accident matters.
  • Practical experience in liability assessment and quantum evaluation.
  • Strong legal drafting and document preparation skills.
  • Experience using court e-Filing systems and legal management software.
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple files and deadlines effectively.
  • High level of professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality.
  • Willingness and ability to work across Kikuyu and Westlands.
