Area Sales Manager Job in Kenya - M-Paya

As we continue to scale our operations across Kenya, we are seeking a dynamic and results-driven candidate to step into the role of Area Sales Manager. This is a strategic leadership opportunity for a staff that is ready to take ownership of a high-impact region and drive growth through people and process.

The incumbent will lead a region composed of 4–5 territories, driving key metrics in customer acquisition, channel expansion, and sales efficiency. The Area Sales Manager will be instrumental in building and mentoring high-performing sales teams, optimizing field operations, and delivering on growth targets. The successful candidate should be familiar with the region, understand the economic environment of the area and also represent the culture of the region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Sales Leadership
  • Develop and execute regional sales strategies aligned with company goals.
  • Lead go-to-market initiatives to ensure optimal market coverage and customer acquisition.
  • Oversee sales operations across the region.
  • People Development & Performance

  • Recruit, coach, and mentor Territory Sales Managers and Field Sales Trainees.
  • Conduct structured performance reviews and identify training needs.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, growth, and excellence.
  • Sales Process & Operational Excellence
  • Ensure 100% compliance with sales processes and lead management protocols.
  • Drive best practices in route planning, market coverage, and trade execution.
  • Monitor and improve funnel tracking and conversion rates.
  • Financial & Reporting Accountability
  • Manage regional trade marketing budgets and optimize cost of sale.
  • Track productivity per sales resource and align with commercial objectives.
  • Generate timely and accurate sales performance reports.
  • Market Development
  • Lead indirect channel growth through agent recruitment and training.
  • Achieve an 80% active rate of recruited agents.
  • Drive tower utilization and neighbor hood-specific sales initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business management with a Major in Sales and Marketing.
  • Diploma in Sales Marketing with two years’ experience working in the same position.
  • Experience in people management.
  • Strong background in performance management and CRM tools.
