Main purpose of the position:
Production of designs, drawings and bills of quantity
as per the standards set by the company to the specifiers’ and customer
satisfaction
Key responsibilities:
Production of design, drawings and BOQs
- Timely production of preliminary and final designs as assigned
as per the standards set and customer requirements.
- Using computer-aided design (CAD) packages for
structural designing projects.
- Management of customers’ technical requirements at design,
supply or project implementation & post-supply phases
Customer management of technical issues.
- Providing techno-commercial information for customers’ roofing
and related requirements thereby generating business for the organization
Other Responsibilities: –
- Undertaking technical and feasibility studies and site
investigations;
- Assessing the potential risks of specific projects, as well as
undertaking risk management in specialist roles;
- Thinking both creatively and logically to resolve design and
development problems;
- Managing change, as the client may change their mind about the
design, and ensuring relevant parties are notified of changes in the
project.
Requirements
Qualifications required:
- Minimum academic qualification: Bachelor of Science / Bachelor
of Technology in Civil/ Structural Engineering or equivalent
- Qualifications as an added advantage: Post Graduate
Business Management Qualifications will be an added advantage
- Professional registration: Relevant Professional Body e.g. IEK
and EBK.
Experience required:
- General work experience (years): 2 years minimum
- Specific to the position (level/discipline/years): One
(1) year in Engineering Sales or Structural Design & Execution
- Industry: Steel/Manufacturing
Computer literacy:
- Proficiency in ordinary computer environment applications
(Windows, MS Office & Internet)
- Commercial CAD Experience – AutoCAD a must
- Civil/ Structural design software like Prokon, STAAD Pro or
Equivalent
- Experience within a techno-commercial environment is an added
advantage

- Sound technical and applied skills relevant to the built
environment
- Ability to liaise with customers, a variety of professionals
(including architects, engineers, quantity surveyors & project
managers) and industry authorities towards creating a strategic advantage
for the organizations business.
- Ability to undertake technical & feasibility studies
including site investigations
- Demonstrated ability to resolve design and development
problems
- Competent use of a range of computer packages in designing,
resolving and sharing technical information with customers and related
stakeholders
- Ability to make presentations and pitches to relevant
stakeholders towards the organizations advantage
- Ability to undertake complex and repetitive calculations
- Ability to think methodically in designing, planning &
executing projects
- Ability to simultaneously deal with multiple project
requirements while maintaining focus on each project’s details and
technicalities
- Excellent verbal and written communication and problem-solving
skills
- Results oriented – ability to prioritize key tasks and manage
against deadlines
- Ability to work in a dynamic team environment and to multitask
- Self-Starter able to work with minimal supervision
