Requirements
for Appointment:
- At
least a Certificate in Animal Health Production, Animal Husbandry,
Veterinary Technology or its equivalent from accredited and recognized
institution;
- At
least Two (2) years’ experience working with laboratory animals;
- A
minimum of KCSE Mean Grade of D+ (Plus);
- Familiarity
with laboratory animal care, protocols and procedures;
- Must
possess animal handling and restraining skills;
- Experience
with data entry and record-keeping systems;
- Well
vast with practical demonstrations for undergraduate students;
- Knowledge
of laws and regulations regarding ethical care and use of animals; and
- Good
verbal and written communication skills.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Providing
daily care for laboratory animals (mice, rats, rabbits, etc.);
- Observation
of animals for signs of illness and maintaining general hygiene in the
facility;
- Assisting
learner and researchers with animal restraint, vaccination, dissections,
sample
- collection
and administration of treatment; and
- Any
other duties as assigned by the supervisor from time to time.

The Terms
of service for these positions will be Permanent and Pensionable subject to
Retirements Benefits Authority Regulations Terms EXCEPT for the position of
General Manager, Grade KH 13 and Instructor, Grade Eleven (11) will be on a
Three (3) Years Contract Terms renewable based on satisfactory performance
