Overall Responsibility
- The
accountant will maintain accurate financial records, ensure statutory
compliance, strengthen internal controls, support budgeting processes, and
safeguard the facility’s financial integrity.
Key
Responsibilities:
- Maintain
accurate and up-to-date financial records in compliance with accounting
standards and healthcare financial regulations.
- Prepare
monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management
reports.
- Manage
accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely payments and collections.
- Conduct
bank reconciliations and ensure proper cash flow management.
- Oversee
payroll processing and ensure accurate statutory remittances (PAYE, NSSF,
SHIF/NHIF, Housing Levy, etc.).
- Support
budget preparation, monitoring, and variance analysis.
- Strengthen
internal controls to prevent fraud, financial leakage, and
misappropriation of funds.
- Ensure
compliance with tax regulations and statutory reporting requirements.
- Support
internal and external audits and implement corrective action plans.
- Monitor
departmental expenditure against approved budgets.
- Maintain
proper documentation and filing of all financial transactions.
- Provide
financial data to support strategic planning and resource allocation.
- Assist
in procurement, financial verification, and supplier payment validation.
- Contribute
to continuous quality improvement initiatives in line with SafeCare
accreditation standards.
Job Qualifications &
Skills
- Bachelor’s
Degree in Accounting, or related field.
- At
least CPA Part II
- Minimum
of 2 years’ experience in a healthcare or institutional setting preferred.
- Strong
knowledge of financial reporting, taxation, and statutory compliance.
- Experience
with accounting software and ERP systems.
- High
level of integrity, confidentiality, and professional ethics.
- Strong
analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability
to work independently and meet strict deadlines.
