Our
client is a leading distributor of wines and beverages in Kenya, seeking a
reliable, organised Shop Supervisor to oversee the daily running of the
Galu Shop. The successful candidate will manage store operations, maintain
stock levels and visual presentation, handle cash and sales reconciliation, and
ensure excellent customer service. This role requires attention to detail,
independent decision-making, and the ability to resolve operational issues
quickly to maintain a smooth, profitable, and customer-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the sale, storage, handling, and organisation of wine stock,
ensuring all wines are stored correctly and rotation/FIFO is followed.
- Manage inventory tasks including regular stock counts, placing
orders, receiving and restocking deliveries.
- Handle daily financials: cashing up, reconciliation, and maintaining
accurate financial records.
- Prepare and merchandise wine displays to enhance the customer
experience and drive sales.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and licensing regulations
within the shop and storage areas.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the shop and storage areas,
coordinating any required maintenance.
- Provide excellent customer service and directly handle sales,
enquiries, and problem resolution.
- Monitor and evaluate the quality and condition of wines in stock,
flagging and removing any compromised items.
- Identify opportunities to improve store performance and implement
operational improvements independently.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Diploma or degree in any related field
- Minimum of 2 -3 years of Previous retail or hospitality experience
- Knowledge of wine types, storage, and handling best practices
(advantageous)
- Financial literacy: cash handling, reconciliation, basic accounting
- Basic IT skills (POS systems, Excel, inventory software)
- Organisational and time-management abilities
- Attention to detail (product quality, merchandising, rotation/FIFO)
- Inventory management and stock-control proficiency
- Accurate cash-handling and basic bookkeeping
- Customer-focused with strong sales orientation
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills (written and verbal)
- Problem-solving and ability to work independently
