Monitoring Officer II Job in Kenya - IPOA

Job Purpose

  • Responsible for monitoring of policing operations affecting members of the public

Key Responsibilities

An officer at this grade will undertake the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Supporting the implementation of policies, strategies, guidelines, plans, standards and procedures pertaining to monitoring while ensuring compliance with relevant laws, rules and regulations;
  • Monitoring police operations affecting members of the public;
  • Collecting and collating data for monitoring reports;
  • Following up on the implementation of recommendations arising from police operations monitored;
  • Conducting studies on trends and patterns of police misconduct;
  • Monitoring the operations of the Internal Affairs Unit of the National Police Service; 

  • Implementing capacity building programs on the prevention of police misconduct;
  • Implementing monitoring tools, concepts and controls to suit emerging trends in policing; and
  • Updating records in the division.

Qualifications

For appointment to this grade, an officer must have the following Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following disciplines: Law, Public Administration, Public Policy, Criminology & Criminal Justice, Education, Sociology, Political Science, Social Sciences, Military, Security Studies or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution; and
  • Proficiency in computer applications
