Depot Manager Job in Kenya (35-40K)

Duties and Responsibilities

Depot Operations Management

  • Oversee all daily depot activities including receiving, storage, dispatch, and distribution.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies, operational procedures, and safety standards.
  • Monitor operational performance and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and compliance within the depot.

Inventory & Stock Control

  • Maintain accurate inventory records and ensure real-time stock updates.
  • Conduct regular stock counts (daily, weekly, monthly cycle counts).
  • Lead stock reconciliation processes and investigate discrepancies.
  • Minimize stock losses, damages, expiries, and shrinkage.
  • Ensure proper FIFO/FEFO stock rotation practices.

Distribution & Logistics Coordination


  • Plan and coordinate timely dispatch of goods to customers and distributors.
  • Monitor delivery schedules to ensure service level targets are met.
  • Optimize route planning in collaboration with logistics teams.
  • Manage returns and reverse logistics processes efficiently.

Team Leadership & Supervision

Supervise, train, and evaluate depot staff performance.
Allocate duties and manage shift schedules.
Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and high performance.
Address disciplinary and performance issues in collaboration with HR.

Reporting & Compliance

Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly operational reports.
Track KPIs such as stock accuracy, order fulfilment rate, and dispatch turnaround time.
Ensure compliance with regulatory, safety, and company standards.
Support internal and external audits.

Cost & Asset Management

Monitor depot operational costs and identify cost-saving opportunities.
Safeguard company assets including inventory, vehicles (if applicable), and equipment.
Ensure proper maintenance of depot equipment and infrastructure.

Key Requirement Skills And Qualification

  • Diploma or Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Logistics, Commerce, or a related field.
  • Professional certification in Supply Chain (CIPS) is an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in an FMCG environment.
  • Proven experience in depot operations and distribution management.
  • Strong inventory control and stock reconciliation skills.
