Accounts Assistant Job in Kenya - Lofty-Corban Investments

Role Summary

The Accounts Assistant supports the finance department with day-to-day administrative and book-keeping tasks to ensure accurate financial record-keeping, ensuring compliance with financial regulations.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Accounts Payable & Receivable: Process vendor invoices, match purchase orders to statements, generate client invoices, and follow up on overdue payments.
  • Bookkeeping & Data Entry: Record daily financial transactions (cash receipts, payments, and expenses) into accounting software.
  • Reconciliations: Perform monthly bank reconciliations to identify and resolve discrepancies between internal records and statements.

  • Financial Reporting: Assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements, including profit and loss accounts, balance sheets, and cash flow summaries.
  • Maintain and update the fixed assets register, ensuring accurate records
  • Ensure timely preparation of tax returns and remittance of taxes
  • Ensure timely preparation of payroll statutory returns and remittance
  • Administrative Support: Maintain organized digital and physical filing systems, handle finance-related queries from vendors or clients, and assist with audit preparations.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Academic and Professional Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Progress towards professional certifications such as CPA, ACCA, or equivalent certification


Experience and Skills Required

  • 1–3 years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Strong command of Microsoft Office applications with particular emphasis on Microsoft excel
  • Attention to detail and ability to identify errors in complex datasets.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills for interacting with various departments and external stakeholders
  • Professionalism: High standard of integrity and discretion when handling sensitive financial data.
  • Advanced proficiency in accounting software
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
