Role Summary
The Accounts Assistant supports the finance department with day-to-day
administrative and book-keeping tasks to ensure accurate financial
record-keeping, ensuring compliance with financial regulations.
Primary
responsibilities:
- Accounts Payable & Receivable: Process
vendor invoices, match purchase orders to statements, generate client
invoices, and follow up on overdue payments.
- Bookkeeping & Data Entry: Record daily
financial transactions (cash receipts, payments, and expenses) into
accounting software.
- Reconciliations: Perform monthly bank
reconciliations to identify and resolve discrepancies between internal
records and statements.
- Financial Reporting: Assist in the preparation
of monthly financial statements, including profit and loss accounts,
balance sheets, and cash flow summaries.
- Maintain and update the fixed assets register,
ensuring accurate records
- Ensure timely preparation of tax returns and
remittance of taxes
- Ensure timely preparation of payroll statutory
returns and remittance
- Administrative Support: Maintain organized
digital and physical filing systems, handle finance-related queries from
vendors or clients, and assist with audit preparations.
- Identify and implement process improvements to
enhance efficiency.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Academic
and Professional Requirements
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a
related field.
- Progress towards professional certifications
such as CPA, ACCA, or equivalent certification
Experience and Skills Required
- 1–3 years of progressive accounting experience.
- Strong command of Microsoft Office applications
with particular emphasis on Microsoft excel
- Attention to detail and ability to identify
errors in complex datasets.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
for interacting with various departments and external stakeholders
- Professionalism: High standard of integrity and
discretion when handling sensitive financial data.
- Advanced proficiency in accounting software
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving
skills.
