Position Overview
They are
looking for an Accounts Assistant who
will provide essential financial and administrative support to the Finance
Department. Reporting to the Accountant, this role focuses on the day-to-day
processing of financial transactions, maintaining accurate digital and physical
records, and ensuring the smooth flow of operations within our Christian
educational and outreach programs. The successful candidate must be
detail-oriented, organized, and deeply committed to the foundation’s mission
through faithful stewardship.
Key Responsibilities
- Transactional Bookkeeping: Perform daily data
entry of all financial transactions into QuickBooks with high accuracy.
- Documentation & Filing: Maintain a
systematic filing system; ensure all invoices, receipts, and vouchers are
properly authorized, stamped, and archived for audit readiness.
- Statutory Compliance (2026): Assist in the
preparation and timely remittance of monthly statutory deductions,
including PAYE, NSSF, SHIF and the Affordable Housing Levy (1.5%) via the
KRA iTax portal.
- Bank & Cash Management: Conduct weekly petty
cash reconciliations and assist the Accountant with monthly bank
reconciliation statements.
- Payroll Support: Assist in the preparation of
payroll, ensuring accuracy in entries and timely disbursement of salaries.
- Audit Assistance: Support internal and external
audit processes by retrieving records and preparing necessary schedules.
- Budget Monitoring: Help monitor program
expenditures against approved budgets and flag any discrepancies.
- Procurement Support: Liaise with vendors for
billing inquiries and assist in sourcing quotes for local purchases.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting,
Finance, or a related field.
- Professional Certification: Must be a CPA-K
holder or equivalent.
- Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience in
accounting or finance, preferably within an NGO or educational setting.
- Technical Skills: High proficiency in QuickBooks
and advanced Microsoft Excel.
- Integrity: A strong sense of personal integrity
and a high level of accuracy in financial reporting.
- Language: Well-spoken and written English and
Swahili.
