Daystar Multipurpose Cooperative Society is a Christian faith-oriented Society that is dedicated to serving Daystar University community. Over the last 35 years to date, the Society has been dedicated to serving Daystar University community with loans and other products.
We are looking for a young,
dedicated person aged between 30 and 40 years to serve in the position of Society Manager. The Society Manager is the CEO of the Society and
oversees the day-to-day running of the Society affairs.
Core Qualifications
- Education: A
minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a finance-related field (e.g.,
Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Business Administration) is required. A
Master’s degree (MBA or MSc in Finance) is often an added advantage.
- Professional Certification: The manager must be
a Certified Public Accountant (CPA
PART II Minimum) or hold an equivalent professional
certification like ACCA.
- Experience: Generally,
at least five to eight years of relevant work experience in financial
management, accounting, or banking operations is required, with a minimum
of three to five years in a senior or supervisory management role,
preferably within a financial institution or the cooperative sector.
- Regulatory Compliance Knowledge: The individual must possess a sound and in- depth knowledge of
the SACCO Societies Act, SASRA regulations and guidelines, International
Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS),
and tax laws.
Regulatory and Personal Requirements
- “Fit and Proper” Test: The Society manager, is subject to a vetting process by SASRA
to determine his/her moral and professional suitability.
- Integrity: A high
degree of integrity and the ability to maintain confidentiality are
essential.
- Clearances: Successful
applicants are required to provide clearance certificates from various
Kenyan bodies, including the police (Certificate of Good Conduct), the
Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) for tax compliance, the Ethics and
Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), the Credit Reference Bureau (CRB), and
the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB).
- Skills: Strong
analytical, problem-solving, leadership, communication, and IT skills
(including accounting software proficiency) are necessary for effective
financial planning, risk management, and reporting.
Other qualifications
- Must be a practicing Christian and be a
current member of a church that has undisputed sound Christian doctrine.
- Must be healthy and physically fit to
take the demanding and often strenuous responsibility of Sacco manager.
- In dealing with Society members, the
manager must have the ability to listen, empathize, and make rational
judgments on diverse issues.
- The suitable candidate must be available
to take up the position not later than 1st March 2026.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Reporting to the Society Treasurer, a
Society manager’s duties include providing strategic leadership, managing
daily operations, and ensuring financial stability and regulatory
compliance.
- Key responsibilities involve implementing
strategic plans, overseeing staff performance, managing the loan
portfolio, and maintaining positive relationships with members and
stakeholders.
