Programs Manager Job in Kenya - Chalan Foundation

Chalan Foundation is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Programs Manager to lead, coordinate, and grow our community-centred initiatives. The ideal candidate is an innovative thinker with a strong background in nonprofit program management and a passion for creating sustainable impact.

Key Responsibilities

Program Planning & Design

  • Develop, refine, and implement high-impact programs aligned with the Foundation’s mission.
  • Conduct community needs assessments to inform program design.
  • Create annual program work plans, timelines, budgets, and performance indicators.

Program Implementation & Management

  • Oversee day-to-day execution of all programs, ensuring activities meet expected standards.
  • Manage field teams, volunteers, and program coordinators to deliver quality outcomes.
  • Ensure compliance with donor requirements and organizational policies.

Monitoring, Evaluation & Reporting (M&E)


  • Develop M&E frameworks to track performance and impact.
  • Prepare timely progress reports, success stories, and documentation for internal use and donors.
  • Use data insights to recommend program improvements and innovations.

Stakeholder & Partnership Engagement

  • Build and maintain relationships with community groups, government agencies, NGOs, donors, and partners.
  • Represent the Foundation in meetings, events, and strategic collaborations.
  • Support fundraising efforts through proposal writing and concept development.

Financial & Resource Management

  • Work closely with the finance team to manage budgets and ensure cost-effective implementation.
  • Oversee program procurement needs, resource allocation, and accountability processes.

Team Leadership & Capacity Building

  • Supervise, mentor, and coach program staff and volunteers.
  • Facilitate training sessions to strengthen team capabilities.
  • Promote a culture of excellence, learning, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Development Studies, Social Sciences, Project Management, or related field (Master’s is an added advantage).
  • Minimum 4–6 years experience working with nonprofits, NGOs, or community programs.
  • Proven expertise in program design, management, and evaluation.
  • Experience working with donor-funded projects is highly desirable.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and reporting skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • High integrity, professionalism, and a passion for community impact.
