Junior Policy Officer Job in Kenya - MYCP

Key Responsibilities

Secretariat & Administrative Support (30%)

  • Support the overall coordination and smooth functioning of the MYCP Secretariat, the Council and Coordination Team
  • Maintaining records of meetings, documents and communications
  • Support basic administrative and financial processes, including tracking expenses, updated and preparing budgets, liaising with funders and donors, writing grant proposals and other external communication documents

Internal Coordination (30%)

  • Support coordination across the MYCP International Council and Coordination Team
  • Assist in organising internal and external meetings, agendas and briefings
  • Provide regular updates on progress and status of activities across the organisation
  • Responsibility for the coordination on the Youth Committee on Migration & Displacement Data

Policy & Advocacy Support (40%)


  • Conduct desk research on key policy themes related to children and young people and migration
  • Assist in drafting, editing and publishing MYCP statements, submissions and external policy positions
  • Monitor and provide briefings on relevant global, regional and local policy developments and processes
  • Support coordination with partners and youth organisations on outputs and policy contributions
  • Liaise with MYCP’s volunteer teams and collate information, resources and policy updates for external meetings

Person Specification

Essential

  • A young person from the global majority aged 18-30
  • Demonstrated interest in migration and international governance policy
  • Good experience of internal organisation management and coordination, including proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets & Word/Google Docs
  • Excellent written and verbal command of English
  • Comfortable working remotely in a multicultural, youth-led environment (suited for European working timezone)
