Community Mentors Job in Kenya - Swahilipot Hub

Position Overview

Community Mentors will deliver individualized guidance to Opportunity Youth within Vijana2Thrive, co-develop tailored action plans, and connect beneficiaries to the resources, services, and networks they need to meet personal and professional goals.

Scope of Role

Lead structured mentorship journeys for Opportunity Youth in Kilifi, monitor progress on a case-by-case basis, and coordinate referrals across Youth Hub Networks and ecosystem partners to ensure holistic, youth-centered outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate structured mentorship sessions for Opportunity Youth in line with Vijana2 Thrive guidelines and objectives.
  • Build strong rapport and motivate mentees to set and achieve personal, educational, and career goals.
  • Monitor and evaluate mentee progress individually, flagging challenges or additional support needs in real time.

  • Collaborate with the Case Management team to connect mentees with services across Youth Hub Networks and ecosystem partners.
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date records of mentorship sessions, progress, and outcomes.
  • Participate in regular meetings and trainings to strengthen mentoring approaches and stay current on program developments.
  • Work closely with Project Management and fellow case managers to ensure smooth implementation of mentorship plans.
  • Communicate frequently with Regional Managers, sharing progress updates, risks, and support needs.
  • Stay informed on relevant policies, regulations, and funding opportunities tied to youth programs and recommend enhancements.

Qualifications

  • Diploma in social work, psychology, education, or any other relevant field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • Proven experience mentoring or coaching youth within community or non-profit settings.
