We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Accountant to join our real estate and development team. This is a full-time on-site Accountant role located in Mombasa. The accountant will be responsible for day-to-day bookkeeping, maintaining accurate financial records, managing accounts payable and receivable, reconciling bank statements, preparing financial statements, and managing payroll.
The
accountant will play a critical role in financial operations, ensuring
compliance, and contributing to strategic financial decision-making. Your focus
will be on optimizing financial performance and maximizing returns for our real
estate assets.
Responsibilities
- Record all transactions in the accounting
system, coordinate with team members to complete all accounting procedures
- Compliance Accuracy: Zero penalties or fines
from KRA (VAT, WHT, MRI, CGT) or statutory bodies (NHIF, NSSF).
- Reporting Velocity: Close monthly books and
submit “Budget vs. Actual” variance reports to maintain a variance below
5%
- Complete monthly bank reconciliation. Keep
physical file with records of payments to key suppliers.
- Invoice and follow up on rent payments for all
tenants.
- Manage all procurement and expenses with
accurate record keeping which includes associated gov’t fees and taxes
- Process suppliers’ payments
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or
related field. CPA or CMA certification preferred.
- Proven experience in real estate or related
industry.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles,
financial regulations, and tax laws.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Advanced proficiency in financial software and
MS Access and MS Excel.
