Duties and Responsibilities
General
Accounting Functions
- Maintain and update general ledger accounts in
accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
- Prepare journal entries, accruals, and
reconciliations on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts, including bank
reconciliations, receivables, payables, and intercompany balances.
Financial
Reporting
- Prepare accurate and timely monthly management
accounts, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow
reports.
- Assist in the preparation of year-end financial
statements and liaise with external auditors during audits.
- Provide financial data and reports to management
for strategic decision-making.
Tax and Statutory Compliance
- Ensure full compliance with Kenyan tax laws,
including VAT, PAYE, corporate tax, and withholding tax.
- Prepare and file accurate and timely statutory
returns to the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) and other regulatory bodies.
- Support tax planning and advise management on
any regulatory or tax changes affecting operations.
Inventory
& Cost Accounting
- Track and reconcile raw materials,
work-in-progress (WIP), and finished goods inventory in collaboration with
warehouse and production teams.
- Monitor production costs and perform cost
variance analysis to support pricing and budgeting decisions.
- Maintain accurate records of inventory movements
and adjustments in the accounting system.
Budgeting
& Forecasting
- Participate in the preparation of annual budgets
and periodic forecasts.
- Monitor budget performance and prepare variance
analysis reports for management review.
Internal
Controls & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to internal control procedures
and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce risk.
- Implement best practices for accounting
processes and financial documentation.
- Maintain accurate and organized financial
records for audit and compliance purposes.
Support
& Coordination
- Coordinate with procurement, operations, HR, and
logistics departments to ensure financial alignment across departments.
- Support payroll processing by reviewing
accounting entries and statutory deductions where required.
- Provide mentorship and support to junior finance
staff if assigned.
Key Requirement Skills And Qualification
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related
field
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA-K)
qualification is desirable
- Minimum of 4–5 years of accounting experience,
preferably in the manufacturing or industrial sector
- Strong understanding of Kenyan tax laws, IFRS,
and financial reporting requirements.
- Hands-on experience in inventory accounting,
costing, and working with ERP or accounting systems
- Advanced Excel skills and proficiency in
accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, SAP, or similar)
- High attention to detail, integrity, and a
strong analytical mindset
- Excellent organizational, time management, and
communication skills
