The Project:

The Centre for Healthcare Quality and Innovation based at the Faculty of Health Sciences is seeking to hire one locum Qualitative Research Specialist for a three-month period for various studies based CHQI.

Job Purpose:

To lead the design, execution, and oversight of all qualitative research activities within the evaluation work streams.

Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Design qualitative research SOP outlining the evaluation methodology, sampling strategy data collection methods, and analysis plan.
  • Support the drafting and finalize qualitative data collection tools, including semi-structured Online Survey Tools, Key Informant Interview (KII)guides and Focus Group Discussion (FGD) guides.
  • Design and conduct a training for the field data collection team.
  • Implement a systematic qualitative analysis, using appropriate techniques.
  • Support Preparation comprehensive Final Qualitative Evaluation Reports.

Job Specification:

  • PhD or Master’s degree in Public Health OR Health Humanities (Medical Anthropology, Medical Sociology); with an undergraduate degree in Humanities;
  • At least 10 years’ experience in qualitative research in health contexts;
  • Knowledge of LMICs health systems.

Terms of Employment:

These are temporary, full time positions for an initial period of three (3) months with possibility
of extension.
