Basic job summary:
The
Job holder will be responsible for the strategic direction, leadership,
coordination,
stewardship and overall administration of Student Financial Aid in Strathmore
University.
Duties
& Responsibilities:
- Strategy &
Programs Design Lead: Direct, Spearhead, plan, evaluate and lead execution
of the Financial Aid strategy, program designs, annual strategic
work-plans and budgeted activities by leading initiatives, processes and
operations of the Financial Aid Office including scholarships, loans,
work-study and grad-prep products to ensure the alignment of FAO
objectives with the University strategic goals.
Monitoring Evaluation, Assessment & Learning Lead:
- Lead FAO in
Monitoring, Evaluation, Assessments and Learning activities by conducting
scholar and donor forums; school and home visits of financial aid
beneficiaries with the aim to improve the processes and activities each
year.
Scholar
Selection Lead:
- Direct to
ensure that deserving students benefit from Financial Aid by conducting
targeted strategic recruitment drives locally among select regions of the
47 counties and in select countries internationally in the African
continent by conducting open days and contests in collaboration with the
marketing department; Set and review award eligibility requirements;
Receive, review, and approve scholarships, loans, college counseling, and
work-study applications and provide recommendations for selection and dropping
of non-deserving or non-performing scholars;
Graduate
College-Counselling Lead:
- Contribute to
graduate placement by communicating placement opportunities and
scholarships to top FAO graduates, SU staff and SU final year students
including assisting them in the application process of placement
opportunities and scholarships.
Performance
Management:
- Provide
leadership to the Financial Aid Office by regularly performing performance
appraisals, facilitating training, leave applications, recruitment, office
resources, meetings, and the welfare of the Financial Aid Office staff in
liaison with the People and Culture Department; Oversee FAO processes for
fairness and effectiveness.
Minimum
Academic Qualifications:
- Masters &
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Education, or any related field from a
recognized institution
- A professional
qualification in Finance and Accounting e.g. CPA or ACCA
- Certification
in Guidance and Counselling or Project Management
Experience:
At
least 5 years’ relevant work experience with at least 2 years in a manager’s
role
