We are seeking a qualified Specialist Physician—ideally in Internal Medicine or a related field—to work within our psychiatric hospital. Reporting to Clinical Services Manager and as a member of a multidisciplinary team, you’ll manage physical health conditions that often present alongside psychiatric care. The ideal candidate should have 6 months to 1 year of theatre experience, adding valuable skills to our integrated clinical services.
Key
Responsibilities
- Conduct
thorough medical assessments, diagnoses, and treatment plans for admitted
patients in a psychiatric setting.
- Support the
psychiatric team by managing chronic illnesses, acute medical conditions,
and overseeing perioperative care.
- Initiate and
follow up on sonography and other diagnostic imaging referrals,
integrating results into patient care.
- Participate
actively in multi-disciplinary team meetings, contributing medical
insights to psychiatric treatment strategies.
- Maintain
accurate medical documentation aligned with clinical guidelines and
regulatory standards.
- Respond to
medical emergencies and assist in stabilizing patients within the
facility.
- Collaborate in
developing and updating clinical protocols tailored to the psychiatric
environment.
- Provide patient
education and engage with families or caregivers on health-related
matters.
Qualifications
& Experience
- Bachelor of
Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB or equivalent) from a recognized
institution.
- Full
registration with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council
(KMPDC).
- Completion of
internship and 6–12 months post-internship experience including theatre
exposure.
- Postgraduate
training or specialist status in Internal Medicine, or equivalent
recognized by KMPDC.
- Clinical
competence, strong judgment, and professionalism.
- Strong
communication, teamwork, and empathetic patient-centered care approach.
- Candidates with
6 months to 1 year of theatre experience will have an added advantage.
