Description
CITAM seeks to recruit a born-again Christian who is experienced
and self-motivated to fill the position of a Legal Assistant, to support our
Legal Audit, Compliance, and Risk functions, and to play a key role in the
establishment and management of CITAM Foundation. The role also includes
providing support in Conveyancing, Intellectual
Property (IP), and Technology, Media &
Telecommunications (TMT) legal matters. Their
responsibility will be to provide comprehensive legal support to ensure that
CITAM operates in compliance with all applicable laws in all its spheres of
influence.
The position reports to the in-house Legal Counsel.
Responsibilities
- Assist
in legal audit and compliance reviews, policy checks, and risk assessments
- Maintain
up-to-date compliance registers and assist in regulatory reporting
- Drafting,
and reviewing, legal documents including contracts, Agreements, MOUs, and
policies.
- Support
the structuring, registration, and operational set-up of the Foundation
- Conduct
thorough legal research, analyse findings, and provide well-informed
opinions on complex legal issues for informed decision-making.
- Support
conveyancing processes: due diligence, drafting agreements, registration
follow-up, maintain an inventory of land/property records and coordinate
with external counsel and registries
- Assist
with protection and enforcement of the organization’s Intellectual
Property rights, conduct research and provide support in IP registration,
renewals, and licensing
- Provide
basic legal support on TMT matters including data protection, digital
platforms, and content licensing
- Coordinate
and collaborate effectively with leadership and internal units in CITAM
including with ICT, Communications, and Media teams on TMT-related legal
matters
Requirements
- Must
be a born-again, mature Christian who conforms to the CITAM statement of
faith.
- Minimum
Bachelor of Laws Degree from a reputable and recognized university.
- Minimum
3 years of relevant legal experience.
- Working
knowledge of non-profit, compliance, conveyancing, IP, and TMT law is an
added advantage.
- Excellent
communication, organization, IT and research skills.
- Must
be admitted as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya with good standing.
