Automotive Engineer Job in Kenya - Kapa Oil

  • To provide engineering support and continuous improvement in the performance, reliability, and efficiency of automotive systems used in transport and logistics operations.

Qualifications

  • 3Minimum 3 years of experience in an automotive engineering role.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office

Experience

  • At least 3+ Years’ experience in transport and logistics essential.
  • 5+ Years Fleet management experience.

Skills


  • Strong diagnostic and technical problem- solving skills.
  • Knowledge of fleet management systems and best practices.
  • Understanding of vehicle dynamics, fuel systems, and emission controls.
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills.
  • Familiarity with EHS and Q&FS standards in automotive operations.
  • Experience with SAP PM or similar maintenance management systems.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and execute engineering projects.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the maintenance, repair, and optimization of transport vehicles and associated systems.
  • Develop and enforce preventive maintenance schedules, ensuring compliance with technical standards and timely execution.
  • Prepare and submit daily vehicle route performance and utilization reports to management.
  • Monitor and analyze vehicle tracking system data to optimize route planning, detect inefficiencies, and support decision-making.
  • Ensure strict compliance with all NTSA (National Transport and Safety Authority) regulations, including vehicle licensing, inspections, and documentation.
  • Liaise with regulatory bodies and internal teams to ensure vehicles are roadworthy and legally compliant at all times.
  • Identify and implement cost-reduction measures within the transport operation while upholding safety and performance standards.
  • Provide technical recommendations for the procurement and replacement of automotive assets.
  • Collaborate with the logistics and operations departments to ensure vehicle availability aligns with business needs.
  • Drive vehicle lifecycle management strategies, including usage monitoring, refurbishment, and decommissioning plans. Conduct regular safety and compliance audits within the fleet.
  • Provide training and technical guidance to drivers and maintenance staff to promote best practices and continuous improvement.
