Job Purpose
The Principal Officer, Credit is responsible for
providing support, direction, credit information, and loan policies and
procedures to ensure the overall quality of the Bank’s credit extension.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Credit administration which involves maintaining and updating
the security register and ensuring that valuations are within three years
and insurances for the collateral are up to date.
- Daily monitoring of accounts, ensuring only good cheques are
paid
- Analyse financial data regarding loan requests for new,
renewal, and existing loans, including data provided by credit bureaus,
other financial institutions, and financial institution files.
- Loan appraisal, disbursement, and management for both internal
and external customers
- Compilation and submission of CBK Returns, Customers’ audit
queries, and CRB Reports.
- Maintains the privacy of customer information and the security
of all records.
- Preparation of Facilities Monitoring Reports; Loan &
Advances analysis reports, Arrears reports, Finance reports & other
internal reports.
- Debt collection; Issuance of polite reminders, Event of
Default Notices & Statutory Notices together with follow-up phone
calls, emails & text messages.
- Monitoring NPLs to trigger where applicable Deed of Rental
Income clause.
- Coordination of realization processes for NPL accounts;
Issuance of valuation instructions, liaising with auctioneers on issues
auction, Preparation of related memos to legal department to facilitate
realization.
- Preparation and booking of guarantees, collection of
commission, and letters of comfort also called reference letters. This
also entails maintaining a proper file for all guarantees issued by the
Bank.
- Raising payments for monies owed to our service providers like
Tysons Limited, Lloyd Masika, etc
- Updating customers’ database including contact/addresses and
ensuring am in constant communication with them on issues to do with their
monthly loan repayment, receiving calls from customers who need help from
our department.
Job Requirements and Experience
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance/Economics or related
field.
- Masters or related qualification from a recognized university
is an added advantage.
- Qualified CPA (K) or ACCA is an advantage.
- Minimum of three years working experience in a similar
position in the banking sector
- Knowledge of prudential guidelines for the compilation of
Central Bank of Kenya returns.
- Experience in Flexi-cube core banking system with excellent
ICT skills in CBK credit reporting among others.
- Business acumen able to understand current affairs and their
impact on the business.
