Duties/Responsibilities
Will be responsible for overall management and
control of the department’s activities in the county policies
Provide technical advice on matters pertaining
initiation, formulation, review and implementation of
Integrating National/County Development policies,
goals and objectives into the tourism, culture & Arts functions.
Coordinating and consulting with local, regional and
international bodies on matters relating to tourism, culture & Arts as well
as developing appropriate vision for the Department.
Provide technical advice on matters pertaining to
Tourism, culture & Arts overall planning, direction, overseeing,
coordination, evaluation and implementation of programmes/projects of the
Department.
Ensure the establishment and management of community
cultural centers, art galleries, tourist attraction sites and promote talent
amongst the youths in the County.
Co-ordination and implementation of tourism product
development, diversification and sustainability programmes
Undertaking market surveys and other relevant
research
Preparing reports and briefs
Overseeing the organization of regional and
inter-county fairs, meetings, conferences and exhibitions
Maintenance of necessary linkages between the
Department and other relevant stakeholders.
Qualifications
Served in the grade of Deputy Director
Tourism/Culture or in a comparable and relevant position for a minimum period
of three (3) years in the Public Service or served six (6) years in the private
sector at a senior managerial position in a relevant field.
A Bachelor’s degree in any of the following fields:
Tourism, Environmental Science, Business Administration, Cultural Studies,
Creative Art, Theatre and Film Studies, Sociology, or International Relations
or any other equivalent qualification in a related field from a recognized
institution
Master’s degree in any of the following fields: –
Tourism, Environmental Science, Business Administration, Cultural Studies,
Creative Art, Theatre and Film Studies, Sociology, or International Relations
or any other equivalent qualification in a related field from a recognized
institution
Demonstrated competence as reflected in work
performance and results
Meet the requirements of Chapter six of the
Constitution on leadership and integrity
