Role Brief
The Tax department encompasses roles accountable for the design
and implementation of tax strategies, policies and the tax governance framework
across Equity Group.
It also includes the provision of tax support to other business
units, delivery of projects to create shareholder value, and proactive
management and mitigation of key tax risks across the Group. It is headed by
the Group Company Secretary and Head of Tax.
As a Tax Manager in Group Finance, you will support the Group
Company Secretary and Head of Tax in:
Responsibility
Managing,
coordinating, and reviewing transactions to ensure compliance with the
respective legislation, rules, and regulations.
Partner
with business units and the respective Heads of Finance/Heads of Business
Units, to drive the execution of the tax strategies, policies, and governance
framework in the Group.
Proactively
engage with business partners and the respective Heads of Finance/Heads of
Business Units with a commercial mind-set to generate opportunities and to
deliver robust tax risk management and mitigation plans in the Group.
Coordinate
with, and support the tax compliance agenda of the Group, through team members
in the respective resident and non-resident subsidiaries in matters relating to
tax.
Support
the business strategy and operational activity of the Group.
Qualifications
First
degree in legal/business related studies.
Professional
membership of relevant tax bodies (legal/chartered accountancy).
At least
7 years post-qualification experience within a tax function. A minimum 5 years
in a professional advisory firm or a financial institution would be an added
advantage.
Experience
in handling/managing tax audits, both internal and external audits.
Broad
understanding of key domestic tax issues and international tax issues impacting
Kenya.
Application
of tax knowledge to the commercial agenda and business strategy.
Sound
judgement regarding acceptable levels of tax risks.
Effective
project management and implementation skills.
Excellent
stakeholder management skills.
Good team
working and communication skills across diverse cultures.
