Fire Marshal
Job Summary
Our Client is seeking to
on recruit a Fire Marshal to perform fire and arson investigations, fire
inspections, and make sure that the buildings follow relevant fire codes in
case of an emergency.
Duties and
Responsibilities
- Performing
scheduled walk through inspections and/or testing of all client owned/leased
facilities by interpreting and applying the subject matter of
International and National Fire and Sprinkler Codes (where applicable),
while also enforcing Bank standards, policies, and procedures.
- Making
notation of any items, practices, or features that would adversely affect
staff from a fire/safety/security standpoint. Actively documents and
immediately reports these items, practices or features.
- Witnessing,
documenting, and participating in Fire and Life Safety systems testing for
new/existing systems and testing of repaired or upgraded systems to ensure
that they function to meet the design specification and are code
compliant/meet Bank standards.
- Assisting
in the investigations of safety and fire incidents and prepare reports on
same.
- Preparing
and submit reports on results of the various inspections and tests, as
required.
- Assisting
the Senior Fire Marshall with review and provides comments on blueprints
and construction plans that affect the protective systems in all
client-owned, leased, or retrofitted space on current, upgraded, or
redesigned fire safety systems.
- Assisting
with coordination and escort for visits/inspections of the Clients
Insurance Underwriters.
- Assisting
the Contract Manager in coordinating/executing Emergency Evacuation/Shelter-In-Place
as outlined in the office’s Emergency & Fire Safety Plan.
Assisting the Contract
Manager in the management of the Office Emergency Warden and Special Care
Programs.
- Assisting
the Contract Manager with training on use/functionality of the various
security technology and fire life safety systems deployed within the
Office. Assists in the training, awareness, and education of
staff/contractors of the roles & responsibilities of the emergency
warden, as outlined in the Bank’s Emergency & Fire Safety Plan.
- Ensuring
that all information recorded on all checklists and journals are entered
neatly, correctly and complete prior to submitting reports.
- Responsible
for knowing/understanding/executing policies and procedures outlined by
the Bank and where outlined by handbooks and executive memos
- Responsible
for submitting & maintaining clear, concise, and accurate reports of
inspections, testing results, deficiencies observed/corrected, and
maintains an up to date inventory of devices and systems deployed within
the Bank environment
- Performing
such other duties as required by the Corporate Security Specialist.
Minimum Requirements and
Competencies
- Bachelor’s
degree in a fire protection or Post-secondary education in technology or
any other relevant course.
- Proficiency
in use of Microsoft Office Suite applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint,
etc) and open source databases
- Familiarity
with modern mobile technologies and standard computer software
applications.
- Minimum
3 years of demonstrated experience in working with fire/sprinkler/safety
systems.
- Effective
organizational skills, attention to detail, and strong written and oral
communication skills.
- Have
an English capability at S4 for speaking and S3 for reading as outlined in
Section 21 of the SOW.
- Demonstrated
ability to conceptualize and analyze problems; identify problems and provide
clear concise solutions.
- Be
self-motivated and possess a strong initiative and willingness to learn
along with follow through discipline
- Ability
to routinely walk the entirety of the clients’ high-rise office building
in order to inspect all spaces.
