CARE International in Kenya’s Emergency & Refugee Operations (ERO) Education Programme has openings for position of Primary School Teachers to be based at the Dadaab refugee camp in North Eastern Province.
Job Summary:
Reporting to the Education Officer, the Primary School Teacher will facilitate learning by establishing working relationships with pupils and organize learning resources and the classroom learning environment in line with curriculum objectives.
The schools operate under the Kenyan 8-4-4 curriculum and therefore the incumbent shall be expected to discharge their responsibilities under this system.
Responsibilities and Tasks:
- Prepare professional documents as required for all teachers
- Organizing the classroom and learning resources to create a proper
- Learning environment and initiate positive competition and self drive among the pupils
- Making effective use of measurement tools and designing follow up/remedial programmes for all learning categories of pupils.
- Designing and implementing classroom control and management techniques applicable to a large class environment.
- Conduct professional duties as will be delegated to the teacher in a pragmatic and open-mindedness focusing on child- centred approach
- Design a child-centred programme for co-curricula activities for psychomotor and psychosocial (wholesome) development
Qualifications and Skills:
- P1 Primary Teacher’s Certificate from a recognized teacher training college.
- Those who will have recently sat for the PTE examination and have received their official result will be considered.
- Excellent communication, administrative and organizational skills.
- Must be a self motivated and reliable person who can work with minimal supervision.
- Able to work in a harsh environment with a multicultural team.
- Good inter-personal, analytical and problem solving skills.
- Computer literacy is a basic requirement.
