Intern, HR, Job in Kenya - AKUH

Responsible for supporting learning and development activities, coordinating training logistics, maintaining HR records and training databases, preparing learning materials, supporting employee engagement and wellness activities, assisting with data entry and reports, and providing general administrative support to HR teams. Requires a Bachelor’s degree or ongoing studies in Human Resource Management, Psychology, Business Administration or a related field. The position is based in Nairobi and requires on-site work.

Job Purpose

The HR Intern will support the Human Resources Department by assisting with recruitment, employee records management, HR documentation and other administrative tasks while gaining practical experience in HR operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in preparing interview dossiers and coordinating interview invitations with shortlisted candidates
  • Assist with the verifications of academic qualifications, professional licenses and other employment credentials
  • Prepare employee confirmation letters
  • Assist in preparing contract extension letters
  • Maintain accurate employee records in both physical personnel files and the electronic DocIT document management system
  • Support personnel file audits to ensure completeness, accuracy and compliance with organizational requirements.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor or their designated representative

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree student or recent graduate in Human Resource Management, Psychology, Business Administration, Social Sciences, or a related field.
  • No prior work experience required.
  • Previous involvement in student leadership, volunteer activities, projects, or internships is an added advantage.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Eagerness to learn and develop professionally.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to take direction.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Reliable, responsible, and professional conduct.
