Summary: Junior Trainer role at Synkron International in Nairobi, supporting technical training delivery and curriculum development. Requires a Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronic, or Automation Engineering with 1–3 years’ experience in engineering, industrial automation, or technical training. Full-time, on-site role.
Role Overview
- The Junior Trainer is responsible for supporting the design,
coordination, delivery, assessment and continuous improvement of technical
training programs delivered through the Synkron Training Center. Working
under the direction of the Training Specialist, the role supports the full
training lifecycle across Synkron’s core technical disciplines, including
industrial automation, electrical systems, mechanical systems,
mechatronics, instrumentation and controls, equipment maintenance,
troubleshooting and related engineering capabilities.
- The Junior Trainer delivers classroom, practical, virtual and
field-based training; supports curriculum and training material
development; facilitates trainee assessments; maintains learning records;
supports LMS administration; prepares training equipment and laboratories;
and assists in monitoring the effectiveness of training interventions.
- This is a developmental technical training role. The Job Holder is
expected to progressively build the technical depth, facilitation
capability and training management competence required to independently
manage increasingly complex training programs – supporting internal
Synkron engineers, client technical teams, partner engineers and external
trainees, and contributing to positioning the Synkron Training Center as a
high-quality regional centre for industrial and engineering capability
development.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Training Delivery: Support and deliver structured
technical training under the guidance of the Training Specialist through
classroom instruction, hands-on practical sessions, technical
demonstrations, equipment-based and simulation-based learning,
virtual/hybrid sessions and field or client-site training, across areas
including industrial automation, PLC programming, electrical and
mechanical systems, mechatronics, instrumentation and controls, equipment
installation, maintenance, diagnostics and fault-finding.
- Training Preparation & Facilitation Support: Ensure training
materials, presentations, equipment, training kits, rooms and laboratories
are ready and current ahead of each session; support the Training
Specialist in delivering complex or advanced programs; and progressively
facilitate assigned modules independently, including one-on-one coaching
for trainees needing extra support.
- Curriculum & Training Content Development: Support the
development and version-controlled maintenance of technical curricula,
manuals, facilitator guides, trainee workbooks, presentations, practical
exercises, troubleshooting guides, SOPs, assessment tools and question
banks, and recommend improvements based on trainee feedback and technical
developments.
- Trainee Assessment & Competency Evaluation: Administer pre- and
post-training, knowledge, practical and competency assessments; mark and
record results accurately; provide constructive feedback; identify
trainees needing additional coaching or remedial training; and support
analysis of competency gaps.
- LMS & Digital Learning Administration: Support administration of
learning programs through Zoho Learn, Zoho Trainer Central and other
approved platforms – uploading and maintaining training materials,
courses, assessments and trainee records, monitoring participation and
completion, and assisting in converting classroom content into digital
learning materials.
- Training Laboratory, Equipment & Practical Learning Support: Set
up, test and safely operate PLC kits, simulation, electrical, mechanical,
instrumentation and demonstration equipment; conduct basic maintenance and
routine checks; maintain equipment registers; and ensure practical
training areas remain organised, safe and ready for use.
- OEM, Certification & Internal/Client Training Support: Support
training programs associated with OEM partners (Siemens, Danfoss, Heuft
and others), assist with certification tracking, participate in OEM
technical training to build trainer capability, support the development of
internal Synkron engineers and technical teams, and support client and
external training delivery including onsite sessions at client facilities.
- Training Coordination, Effectiveness & Compliance: Work closely
with the Training Specialist and Academy Administrator on calendars,
schedules, attendance, records and reports; collect trainee feedback and
support post-training reviews and continuous improvement; and ensure all
training activities comply with applicable health and safety requirements.
