Based in Nairobi, the role requires extensive experience in treasury sales, wealth management, and distribution.
Job Purpose Statement
The
main purpose of this role is to drive the distribution of FX & Fixed income
solutions. The role holder ensure the end-to-end management and growth of
retail wealth solutions by owning the Sales customer journey, supporting
business by preparing proposals, feedback management on wealth products,
commercialization, and continuous enhancement of investment offerings. The role
focuses on accelerating business growth through client acquisition, portfolio
deepening, and market expansion, while equipping Relationship Managers and
frontline teams with the knowledge, tools, and training required to effectively
position and deliver wealth solutions. This is achieved through data-driven
insights, strong stakeholder collaboration, and disciplined governance within a
dynamic regulatory environment. The role will also be the bridge between the
bank and our Product Houses (NCBA Investment Bank & Global Markets)
Responsibilities
Business
Development 50%
- Drive growth of the bank’s wealth business by leading the
distribution of foreign exchange and fixed-income products, including
bonds, treasury bills, commercial papers, and private placements.
- Expand the retail wealth portfolio through customer acquisition,
retention, and increased product utilization while promoting wealth
solutions aligned to customer goals and risk profiles.
- Leverage data analytics to monitor business performance, identify
growth opportunities, and improve customer engagement.
- Grow assets under management (AUM), deposits, lending balances, fee
income, market share, and customer profitability through cross-selling,
upselling, and new-to-product initiatives.
- Achieve agreed financial targets and deepen customer wallet share
through strategic partnerships, referrals, events, and collaboration with
Retail Segments, Branches, and Product Houses.
- Promote digital adoption and enhance customer engagement to support
sustainable business growth.
Product
Lifecycle Management 20%
- Support the development, enhancement, and delivery of wealth and
investment solutions by identifying customer needs, market opportunities,
and product improvement initiatives.
- Act as the key liaison between Product Houses and internal
stakeholders, including Risk, Operations, Digital Banking, Marketing,
Finance, and other business units, to ensure successful implementation of
wealth projects and business-as-usual initiatives.
- Manage the product lifecycle from ideation and requirements
gathering through launch and continuous improvement.
- Analyze customer behavior, feedback, market trends, and competitor
activities to optimize product offerings, improve retention, and
strengthen the bank’s competitive position.
- Partner with marketing teams to design campaigns that drive product
awareness, acquisition, and customer engagement.
Portfolio
Management 10%
- Monitor portfolio performance and conduct regular client portfolio
reviews to ensure alignment with customer objectives and investment
strategies.
- Maintain portfolio quality for wealth lending solutions, identify
opportunities for non-funded income growth, and proactively originate
cross-sell opportunities across the wealth portfolio.
- Monitor exposure to market volatility and downside risks, ensure
portfolio information is accurately maintained within CRM systems, and
support relationship teams in unlocking greater value from customer
portfolios.
Risk
Management & Governance 10%
- Ensure compliance with customer risk profiling requirements,
suitability standards, and all internal policies and regulatory
obligations.
- Maintain adherence to KYC, AML, operational, credit, reputational,
and conduct risk requirements.
- Ensure investments remain within approved risk parameters, customer
disclosures and documentation are complete, and all recommendations are
delivered in line with fiduciary responsibilities and regulatory
expectations.
Training & Capability
Development 10%
- Build frontline capability by ensuring completion of CMA
certification and participation in the NCBA Wealth Bootcamp.
- Develop training programs, toolkits, and learning materials to
support strategic partnerships and product initiatives.
- Conduct regular refresher training for branch teams on wealth
solutions, promote continuous professional development, and ensure
compliance with HR policies and organizational learning requirements.
Job Specifications
- Academic Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in a
business-related field is required. Professional qualifications such as
CISI, CIFA, or CFA are advantageous, while a Master’s degree will be an
added benefit.
- Desired Experience Up to 10 years of experience in
commercial or retail banking, sales, and lending, including at least 4
years in a management role within a comparable organization. Strong
knowledge of wealth management, banking products and services, industry
regulations, and commercial banking practices is essential
