Conservation Field Coordinator Job in Kenya - TMP

Position Overview

The Manda Projects (TMP) is looking for a dedicated individual to provide oversight and implementation support to a unique and scalable project in and around the Lake Turkana National Parks (Sibiloi, Central Island and South Island National Parks), and the surrounding community areas. The position is predominantly field based, living remotely within the parks.

The Field Coordinator provides on-the-ground technical and operational oversight for a diverse conservation program focused on support of protected area management and community-based conservation. It is a diverse role that will range from supporting scientists while they carry out surveys, assisting in wildlife re-introductions, coordinating donor / supporter visits, and participating in community engagements. The role will require a close working relationship with the relevant Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) team/s on the ground, and the local communities in the region.

This role would suit an early career conservationist who is comfortable living in remote areas with only basic amenities for extended periods of time. Applicants should be able to demonstrate ecological and conservation field experience; the capacity for logistical and operational coordination of complex projects, and the ability to manage budgets.

The position will be full time, based within protected areas and their surrounding community lands, supporting biodiversity outcomes, operational efficiency, and community livelihood projects. The position will require prolonged periods in the field (several weeks), interspersed with regular blocks of time away from the field. Time away from the field sites will consist of some limited ability to work remotely and the use of accumulated days off.TMP is a young conservation organisation with field operations throughout Kenya. While the specific role will be to support our Sibiloi project, this job will, when necessary, involve providing a supporting role on other TMP projects within Kenya. The work environment will be busy, diverse and dynamic and the successful candidate must have a good sense of humour, and a can-do attitude. We are not looking for someone with all the answers, but rather someone excited to work and learn together to figure the answers out.

  • Strong operational planning, logistics coordination, and budget tracking experience.
