Accountant Job in Kenya - Elsa Gardens

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate financial records and ledgers for all resort transactions
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS
  • Manage accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely supplier payments and collections
  • Reconcile bank statements and prepare cash flow forecasts
  • Monitor budgets and prepare variance analysis reports
  • Manage petty cash and ensure all transactions are properly supported and approved
  • Prepare financial reports for management review and decision-making
  • Process monthly payroll accurately and on time
  • Calculate and remit statutory deductions including PAYE, NSSF, NHIF, and HELB
  • File statutory returns in compliance with KRA and other relevant authorities
  • Maintain up-to-date employee records for payroll and benefits administration
  • Coordinate recruitment, selection, and onboarding of new employees
  • Prepare and issue employment contracts, job descriptions, and probation evaluations

  • Maintain personnel files, attendance records, and leave registers
  • Develop and implement HR policies and procedures aligned with the Employment Act, 2007
  • Coordinate performance appraisal exercises and advise management on training and development needs
  • Handle employee relations matters including grievances, disciplinary actions, and conflict resolution
  • Promote workplace harmony and ensure adherence to the resort code of conduct
  • Support the General Manager in administrative operations and recordkeeping
  • Coordinate insurance, licenses, and regulatory renewals for the resort
  • Liaise with auditors, suppliers, and government agencies as required
  • Ensure compliance with financial and HR policies, labor laws, and internal controls

Qualification:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resource Management, or Business Administration
  • CPA (K) or equivalent professional accounting qualification
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years experience in a combined Accounting and Human Resource role
  • Strong knowledge of Kenyan labor laws and statutory compliance requirements
  • Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Tally, or ERP systems
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • High integrity, confidentiality, and strong attention to detail
  • Strong analytical ability and financial reporting skills
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking capability
  • Sound judgment in employee relations and HR policy application
  • Leadership ability with strong problem-solving skills
  • Commitment to teamwork, integrity, and professional conduct
