The Community Research Officer will support community-level data collection and stakeholder engagement for the safeguarding mapping consultancy, ensuring inclusive, accessible, and ethical participation of persons with disabilities and other at-risk groups.
This
position involves field work in Embu and Nyamira counties
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct community-level data collection,
including key informant interviews and focus group discussions
- Support mapping of formal and informal
safeguarding reporting pathways at community and county level
- Facilitate inclusive and accessible engagement
with persons with disabilities and community stakeholders
- Identify community attitudes, practices, and
risks relevant to safeguarding
- Ensure ethical, confidential, and “do no harm”
research approaches
- Support data organisation, analysis, and
synthesis
- Contribute to drafting sections of safeguarding
mapping and final reports
- Support validation processes and incorporation
of feedback
Required Qualifications and Experience
- University degree in social sciences,
development studies, disability studies, social work, human rights, or a
related field
- Training in safeguarding, child protection,
PSEA, or ethical research approaches is an added advantage
- At least 3-5 years’ experience in
community-based research or protection-related work
- Experience working with persons with
disabilities and applying inclusive research methods
- Familiarity with safeguarding, child protection,
or community referral mechanisms in Kenya
- Strong qualitative data collection and
documentation skills
- Experience working with community structures,
OPDs, CSOs, or local authorities
