Job Summary
- The Commercial Producer (Business Development) is responsible for generating and managing
revenue-driven audiovisual projects while providing creative and
operational leadership across all commercial productions. The role
combines business development, client management, creative direction, and
production oversight to deliver profitable, high-quality commercial
content that strengthens Switch’s market position.
- The position leads the sourcing,
pitching, negotiation, and execution of externally funded projects,
ensuring client expectations are met, budgets are controlled, and
productions are delivered to the highest professional standards. The role
also supports talent development and contributes to the strategic growth
of Switch’s commercial portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development and Revenue Generation
- Identify, source, and secure new external
commercial opportunities aligned with Switch’s strategic objectives.
- Build, manage, and grow relationships
with clients, agencies, corporates, and institutions.
- Lead negotiations on project scope,
pricing, timelines, and deliverables to ensure profitability.
- Drive repeat business and long-term
client partnerships.
Client Engagement and Proposal Development
- Engage clients to understand briefs and
translate them into creative and commercially viable solutions.
- Develop proposals, treatments, budgets,
and production schedules for commercial projects.
- Prepare and deliver persuasive pitches
and presentations.
- Ensure timely submission of quotes and
proposals in line with client and internal timelines.
Creative Leadership and Concept Development
- Lead ideation and creative direction for
commercials, branded content, and digital campaigns.
- Develop scripts, storyboards, and
creative treatments aligned with brand strategy and target audiences.
- Ensure content reflects current market
trends and platform requirements.
Production Planning and Execution
- Plan, coordinate, and oversee all phases
of commercial production, including pre-production, production, and
post-production.
- Coordinate internal teams, freelancers,
and service providers to ensure seamless execution.
- Allocate production resources
efficiently, including crew, equipment, and locations.
Budget and Financial Management
- Prepare and manage production budgets,
ensuring cost efficiency and profitability.
- Monitor expenditures and resource
utilization throughout the production cycle.
- Ensure financial accountability for all
negotiated projects.
Production Oversight and Quality Control
- Supervise studio and field productions to
ensure technical and creative excellence.
- Oversee post-production workflows,
including editing, sound, graphics, and final delivery.
- Ensure all outputs meet client
specifications, brand guidelines, and broadcast or digital standards.
Quality Assurance and Client Satisfaction
- Uphold high standards of creativity,
sound, visuals, and storytelling.
- Review and approve final outputs before
client delivery.
- Address client feedback constructively
and ensure successful project close-out.
Training, Mentorship, and Capacity Building
- Conduct structured training sessions and
practical workshops in audiovisual production.
- Mentor junior producers, interns,
students, and emerging creatives.
- Support entrepreneurial development
through industry-relevant training initiatives.
Reporting, Documentation, and Collaboration
- Provide regular performance and project
reports to the Chief Producer and Head of Switch.
- Maintain accurate documentation of
projects, budgets, pitches, and client engagements.
- Log daily activities and production
milestones.
Strategic Contribution and Representation
- Contribute to the commercial strategy and
growth of Switch.
- Represent Switch professionally in client
meetings, industry forums, and partnerships.
- Support brand positioning through
high-impact commercial productions.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Achievement of monthly and quarterly
revenue targets from externally sourced projects.
- Development of at least two commercially
viable creative concepts per month.
- Submission of client budgets and
quotations within 24 hours of receiving briefs.
- High client satisfaction levels and
repeat business.
- Timely and cost-effective delivery of all
commercial productions.
- Consistent delivery of high-quality
commercial content.
- Effective training sessions with
measurable participant engagement and outcomes.
- Positive collaboration with internal
teams and production crews.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Direct supervision of production crews,
junior producers, interns, and trainees assigned to commercial projects.

Education & Experience
- University Degree or Diploma in TV
Production, Communication, Media Studies, or a related field.

commercial television and audiovisual production.
- Demonstrable experience in client-facing
roles and revenue-driven projects.
