The position exists to provide safe, reliable, and timely driving services in support of The Maa Trust’s operations. The Driver will be responsible for transporting staff, visitors, and materials to various destinations as required, safety, always handling minor vehicle maintenance and adherence to traffic and organizational regulations. This position plays a vital role in facilitating efficient mobility, maintaining positive representation of the organization on the road, and contributing to the smooth running of daily operations.
Key roles and
responsibilities:
- Safe Vehicle Operation
- Operate organization
vehicles in a safe and responsible manner, adhering to all traffic laws
and regulations.
- Ensure the vehicle is
always in good working condition, performing route checks and maintenance
as required.
- Notify the Fleet manager
of renewal for the vehicle license/conservancy sticker·
- Keep track of timely car
insurance renewals
- Transportation Duties.
- Transport staff to
various destinations promptly and efficiently.
- Plan and follow the most
efficient routes to minimize travel time and avoid delays.
- Delivery payment
transfers to the bank and/or the suppliers.
- Ensure sound running of
the vehicles assigned and arrange minor repairs where necessary
- Vehicle maintenance and
Safety Check
- Conduct pre and post
trips inspection to ensure the vehicle is in good condition.
- Check and maintain fluid
levels, tire pressure and other important components
- Report any vehicle
malfunctions or safety issues to the appropriate persons for service
- Maintenance Support
- Assist in performing
routine maintenance tasks, including fluid checks, oil changes, and tire
inspections to ensure vehicles operate safely.
- Help in implementing a
preventive maintenance schedule to reduce vehicle downtime.
- Support the lead mechanic
in diagnosing and resolving minor mechanical issues, ensuring timely
repairs
- Prepare and organize
tools and parts needed for repair tasks and assist during more complex
repair operations.
- Utilize preventive
maintenance practices to lower the frequency of emergency repairs and
control overall maintenance costs.
- Maintain detailed records
of all maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections to meet safety
regulations and internal compliance standards.
Qualifications &
Experience
- Valid Kenyan Class D2
Driving License (for vehicles carrying 15–33 passengers).
- Minimum of 5 years’
driving experience, preferably in off-road or rugged terrain.
- Training in defensive
driving and basic vehicle maintenance is an added advantage.
- Excellent knowledge of
the Maasai Mara terrain and surrounding areas.
- Fluent in both English
and Kiswahili, with good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proven record of safety
awareness, reliability, and professionalism.
