Financial Controller Job in Kenya - Galentine Care

Position objectives

  • Responsible for oversight of all finance, accounting and reporting activities
  • Provide comprehensive financial updates to the CEO and the Founders by evaluating, analysing, and reporting appropriate data points
  • Lead the development and implementation of both short- and long-term financial management plans and strategies
  • Guide financial decisions by applying company policies and procedures to current economic landscape
  • Develop, implement, and maintain financial controls and guidelines
  • Achieve budgeting goals with proper scheduling, analysis, and corrective actions
  • Help develop and support short- and long-term operational strategies

Key Responsibilities:


  • Oversee all accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
  • Oversee the Galentine Care Ltd accounting function, ensuring accurate reporting and effective financial policies.
  • Provide financial analysis and guidance to support business plans, targets, and key drivers.
  • Maintain robust, compliant financial systems to meet current needs and enable growth.
  • Support annual budgeting by reviewing assumptions and market conditions.
  • Ensure timely compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate annual and special audits with auditors
  • Manage cash flow, collections, and working capital to strengthen internal controls.
  • Overseeing financial operations at the factory level, including budgeting, forecasting, and reporting
  • Collaborating with factory management to analyse and optimize manufacturing processes, identify cost-reduction opportunities, and enhance profitability
  • Managing the preparation and dissemination of factory-level financial statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP
  • Conducting comprehensive analysis of production costs, material consumption, and inventory levels
  • Ensuring compliance with applicable Kenya regulations as well as adherence to corporate policies
  • Assessing risks associated with factory operations and implementing appropriate risk-mitigation strategies
  • Leading and training accounting and finance team at the factory

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field. Master’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting.
  • Professional accounting qualification (CPA(K) or ACCA finalist).
  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience in a senior finance or accounting role within a busy commercial enterprise, external audit, or consultancy firm.
  • MUST have expertise and proficiency in accounting and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software that integrate accounting functions with other business operations (e.g., QuickBooks, inventory, sales, CRM, production).
  • MUST have solid understanding and substantial work experience in the manufacturing sector in Kenya. Experience in FMCG manufacturing sector an advantage.
  • Self-confident, conscientious, and well-organized.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage priorities effectively.
  • Capable of working independently and taking ownership of responsibilities.
  • High level of integrity and ethical conduct
  • Keen analytic, organization and problem-solving skills which allows for strategic data
  • interpretation versus. simple reporting
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; experience in effectively communicating key data, including presentations to senior management, board or other outside partners
  • Ability and desire to translate complex financial concepts to individuals at all levels including
  • finance and non-finance managers
