Responsibilities
The intern will be expected
to:
- Assist in the development of
communication materials, including media packages, fact sheets and social
media content
- Support the country office in the
production and finalisation of communications products
- Produce content for use for country’s
influencing
- Conduct research on key regional issues
and compile reports for internal use
- Support the planning and implementation
of communication campaigns and events
- Monitor media coverage and social media
trends relevant to Kenya
- Assist in the maintenance of the country
office online presence, including the website and social media
accounts
- Travel to field locations in Kenya for
content gathering (video, photo and text)
- As part of the internship, the intern
will be expected to undergo in-house training in NRC’s
branding and house style, digital asset systems, ethics, and other
relevant areas
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in final
year or recently graduated (past 18 months) with a
Degree in Communications, Journalism, International Relations, or a
related field.
Skills and Experience
- Excellent English writing
skills and attention to detail
- Sound photography and filming
skills
- Knowledge of digital storytelling
techniques
- Knowledge of and interest in regional
humanitarian issues
- Experience in using social media for
advocacy and outreach
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe
Creative Suite (photo, audio and video editing, and design)
