Job Purpose:
To
provide accounting and administrative support to the finance department in
daily operations, including data entry, reconciliations, record keeping, and
preparation of financial reports while gaining practical exposure to the
company’s accounting systems, procedures, and internal controls.
Key Responsibilities:
- Record daily financial transactions in
accounting systems.
- Post journal entries and assist in maintaining
ledgers.
- Support reconciliation of bank accounts, petty
cash, and supplier statements.
- Assist in processing supplier invoices and
payment vouchers.
- Help in preparing client invoices and receipting
collections.
- Monitor pending payments and follow up for
outstanding balances.
- Assist in preparing monthly reports such as
expense summaries, petty cash reports, and reconciliations.
- Support preparation of management reports for
the Head of Accounts.
- Assist in maintaining audit files and
documentation.
- Support VAT, PAYE, NSSF, and NHIF
reconciliations and filing preparations.
- Maintain orderly filing of accounting documents
(physical and digital).
- Assist in handling internal requisitions,
approvals, and payment documentation.
- Assist in expense tracking and budget variance
analysis.
- Help in coding and classifying expenses by
subsidiary or project.
- Work closely with finance officers, procurement,
HR, and project departments.
- Attend departmental meetings and contribute to
process improvement discussions.
Qualifications:
- Pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor’s
degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or Business Administration
(Accounting or Finance option).
- Minimum CPA Part II or equivalent professional
accounting course is an added advantage.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and basic accounting
software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Odoo, or Tally.
Education
& Training Requirements:
- Undergraduate degree in Accounting/Finance or
related field.
- Training in computerized accounting systems and
MS Office Suite (especially Excel).
- Familiarity with financial reporting standards
(IFRS) and Kenyan tax systems (KRA iTax) preferred.
- Basic training in audit preparation and document
control is an added asset.
Experience:
Fresh
graduate or candidate with up to 1 year of accounting internship or attachment
experience. Experience in data entry, reconciliations, and handling accounting
records within an organization will be an added advantage.
