Assistant Manager – Finance will support the Finance Manager in overseeing daily financial operations, ensuring internal controls, and driving timely and accurate month-end and year end closing processes. responsible for managing financial reporting, reconciliations, compliance with statutory requirements, and supporting decision making through financial analysis.
Key Responsibility
- Lead the month-end close process, ensuring
accurate and timely posting of all journal entries (accruals, provisions,
adjustments).
- Review trial balances, ensure completeness of
ledgers, and prepare monthly management accounts (P&L, Balance Sheet,
Cash Flow).
- Coordinate reconciliations for all balance sheet
accounts (bank, inventory, receivables, payables, payroll, intercompany).
- Ensure timely review of production variances,
COGS analysis, and cost allocations to relevant cost centres.
- Oversee year-end audit schedules, coordinate
with external auditors, and ensure timely closure of audit queries.
- Supervise day-to-day accounting operations,
including AR, AP, payroll, inventory, and fixed assets.
- Ensure SAP transactions (or ERP) are posted
accurately and reconciled with supporting documentation.
- Prepare and review cash flow forecasts (weekly,
monthly) and liquidity reports.
- Ensure compliance with Kenyan tax laws (VAT,
PAYE, Corporate Tax, Excise, Withholding Tax, SHIF/NSSF).
- Lead internal controls implementation for
revenue, expenditure, inventory, and capital projects.
- Support Finance Manager in developing policies,
SOPs, and accounting manuals.
- Partner with operations team (plant,
procurement, HR) to ensure alignment between finance and business
functions.
- Supervise junior accountants, review their work
(reconciliations, postings, reports), and ensure adherence to deadlines.
Key Qualifications, Experience, Skills, and
Competencies
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance,
CPA(K), ACCA, or equivalent professional qualification.
- +5 years’ progressive experience in
accounting/finance, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role within a
manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of ERP systems (preferably SAP
Business One).
- In-depth understanding of Kenyan tax laws, IFRS,
and corporate governance.
- Solid understanding of accounting principles and
financial regulations
- Business acumen and ability to maintain
confidential information
- Ability to prioritize, coordinate, and manage
multiple activities
- In depth understanding of manufacturing/FMCG
processes
- Strong analytical and communication skills with
