Job Description
Our client is a registered charitable organization dedicated to empowering visually impaired and blind individuals to live productive, independent lives through education, assistive technology, and skills development. They work across Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Malawi, and Rwanda, supporting inclusive education, braille literacy, and digital skills training to enhance opportunities for persons with visual impairments.
To
strengthen its operations, they are seeking a highly skilled Finance and
Administration Manager to oversee key elements of governance, Financial
management, Compliance, Administration, and human resource functions to ensure
organizational efficiency and sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Governance & Management
- Develop and implement strong financial policies,
procedures, and internal controls to safeguard stakeholder interests in
operations.
- Oversight of the Financial Accounting process
and ensure full compliance with International Financial Reporting
Standards (IFRS), International Accounting Standards (IAS), and donor
financial regulations, enhancing accountability and transparency in the process.
- Provide financial oversight, ensuring funds are
used efficiently and aligned with their mission.
- Prepare accurate and timely financial reports
for accurate and timely information to stakeholders.
- Manage statutory audits, donor reporting, and
financial risk mitigation.
- Effectively manage and safeguard Trust assets
such as Cash, Inventory, Receivables and fixed assets, including advances
to implementing partners.
Budgeting, Forecasting & Reporting
- Develop annual and multi-year Financial
Plans/Budgets to support their strategic objectives.
- Oversee the budget formulation process and
monitor and control the execution to ensure alignment of operations with
the financial strategy and plan.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial
reports (statement of income and expenditure, cash flows, program
financial reports, etc) for use by stakeholders, specifically, Board of
Trustees, Donors, and Program Managers.
- Conduct financial analysis to assess their
financial health from time to time and advise leadership accordingly.
Fundraising & Donor Compliance
- Support the development of fundraising proposals
and donor engagement strategies.
- Ensure financial accountability and transparent
reporting to donors and stakeholders.
- Monitor and evaluate financial performance of
grants and donor-funded projects in line with terms and conditions agreed
with the respective donors.
- Engage in advocacy efforts to promote
sustainable financing for assistive technology and disability inclusion
programs.
Statutory & Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure full compliance with tax laws, labor
laws, and statutory requirements (e.g., PAYE, VAT, NSSF, NHIF).
- Maintain proper documentation and filings,
including annual returns, program permits, and audit records.
- Mitigate legal and regulatory risks by staying
up to date with financial policies and compliance requirements.
Human Resource & Administration
- Develop and implement HR policies that promote a
productive and inclusive workplace.
- Oversee payroll processing, employee benefits,
and contract management.
- Manage staff performance evaluation systems and
professional development programs.
- Ensure smooth day-to-day office administration.
- Oversight Procurement process, ensuring
compliance with laid down procurement policies.
- Lead vendor and service provider relationships,
ensuring cost-effectiveness and quality service.
Qualifications & Experience
- A Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting,
Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
- A professional accounting qualification (CPA,
ACCA, CA or equivalent).
- At least 12 years of relevant experience in
financial management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
- Experience working in NGOs, charitable
organizations, or donor-funded projects is an added advantage.
- Strong understanding of financial software and
ERP systems.
- Proven leadership, analytical, and
problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal
abilities.
