Job Purpose:
The
Senior Manager, Cloud Engineering, plays a critical role in driving the
strategic direction and technical design of cloud infrastructure and solutions
within the organization. Their primary purpose is to lead a team of cloud
architects in planning, designing, and implementing cloud-based systems that
align with business objectives and leverage best practices.
Key
Deliverables:
- Formulate and articulate the organization’s cloud engineering
strategy, ensuring alignment with business goals, technology trends, and
industry standards.
- Lead the design and engineering of scalable, reliable, secure,
and cost-effective cloud-based solutions.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to the cloud
engineering team, promoting a culture of innovation and excellence.
- Work with stakeholders across IT, business units, and
executive leadership to understand requirements, gather feedback, and
align with architectural principles.
- Evaluate and select cloud service providers and technologies,
negotiating contracts and partnerships to meet organizational needs.
- Establish and enforce governance processes and standards,
ensuring compliance with policies, regulations, and industry best
practices.
- Identify risks and vulnerabilities in cloud engineering and
propose mitigation strategies to enhance security, resilience, and
business continuity.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives in cloud engineering
practices and methodologies, staying current with emerging technologies
and trends.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive framework outlining
principles, standards, and guidelines for cloud solutions.
- Create detailed blueprints and design documents for
cloud-based systems, documenting architectural decisions and dependencies.
- Define and communicate technical roadmaps, outlining key
projects, milestones, and resource requirements.
- Develop security and compliance documentation, including risk
assessments, security controls, and compliance artifacts.
Qualifications
Professional
Experience & Certifications:
- 5 Years + of extensive experience in cloud infrastructure
planning, design, and implementation.
- Strong expertise in cloud architecture, with a focus on Azure,
AWS, or Google Cloud.
- Proficiency in designing scalable, secure, and cost-effective
cloud solutions.
- Deep understanding of cloud service models (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS)
and cloud migration strategies.
- Strong project management and organizational skills, with
experience in leading complex cloud projects.
- Knowledge of DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines,
infrastructure as code (IaC), and automated deployments.
- Excellent analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving
skills.
- Strong leadership, communication, and team collaboration
abilities.
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or a
related field.
- Professional certifications in Cloud Architecture (e.g., Azure
Solutions Architect, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, or Google Cloud
Professional Cloud Architect).
- Advanced understanding of containerization and orchestration
technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
- Experience with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools (e.g.,
Terraform, ARM templates).
- Familiarity with DevOps tools and practices (e.g., Jenkins,
Git, Ansible).
- Project management certification (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2)
(optional).
- Good understanding of networking concepts and protocols (DNS,
TCP/IP, DHCP, HTTPS, etc.).
