Purpose
Responsible for analyzing and settling all legal
matters relating to third party claims lodged with CIC and pursue recoveries
with respect to material damages.
Key Responsibilities
- Review pleadings, legal opinions and status reports prepared
by external advocates and action as appropriate.
- Conduct legal research and prepare legal opinions for review/
advice by management.
- Engage in negotiations with third party claimants with a view
to settling admissible claims out of court.
- Issue instructions depending on the task to various service
providers involved in the claims process such as advocates, investigators
amongst others.
- Respond to demand letters from third party advocates and/or
claimants;
- Initiate and ensure timely processing of legal claims payments
(judgements, fee notes and discharge vouchers).
- Maintain and update reserves for all files.
Academic and Professional Requirements
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Law or in a related
field E
Professional Qualifications
- Postgraduate Diploma in Law required
- Advocate of the High Court of Kenya
- Progress in ACII, Diploma in Insurance (is an added advantage)
Experience Required:
- One year Relevant experience
