Job Description
We are searching for a skilled barber to join our
team. In this role, it will be your job to consult with our clients and to help
them select the right hairstyle for their style goals. Once you’ve done that,
you will cut and style their hair so that it matches the description that
they’ve provided you as closely as possible.
Skills And Competencies
- Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills to
understand their clients’ needs and requests best.
- You should be able to assess the condition of a client’s hair
and problem-solve to create customized styles. Must be skilled in
haircutting, coloring, grooming, styling facial hair and hairstyling
technical skills, including using chemicals and hot tools, razors,
clippers and scissors.
- Be enthusiastic about your profession and bring creativity and
problem-solving skills to your work.
- You will also help us with maintaining the cleanliness and
inventory of our shop.
- To do well in this role, you will need to have excellent
people skills and the ability to accurately capture the style that our
clients hope to achieve with their haircut.
- You should also keep yourself aware of new styles and emerging
trends in hairstyle.
Duties and responsibilities
- Their primary responsibilities are to enhance the cosmetic
appeal and health of their client’s hair
- Assess hair and scalp health and recommend treatments and
products
- Consult with clients and advise hairstyle and hair treatment
options
- Cut and style hair to client to specifications
- Use chemical solutions, hair dyes and hot styling tools
- Maintain salon sanitation and health standards, including
cleaning and disinfecting workstations
- Trim and groom client’s facial hair with combs, razors,
scissors and clippers
Qualifications
- Time management skills to complete client services in an
efficient and timely manner
- Technical knowledge and skill for hair to assist clients with
a variety of hair types and needs
- Interpersonal skills to connect with clients, building long
term relationships and client loyalty
- Ability to successfully recreate the wide variety of
hairstyles that our clients are looking for aesthetic creativity to create
unique styles tailored to client-specific visions
- Communication skills to listen and understand client requests,
as well as discuss various options and decisions before, during and after
services
- Customer service skills as necessary for performing
transactions, scheduling appointments and following up with clients
- Physical abilities that allow them to stand for long periods
and perform precise cuts
- Helps foster and maintain a relaxed and positive salon
atmosphere through empathy and collaboration
- Have completed high school or equivalent education, and
graduated from a state licensed barber school with a Diploma or higher
- Advanced courses to improve their skills and knowledge would
be desirable.
- Create a flexible schedule to work at night, on weekends, and
on certain holidays
- Licenses and/or certifications in the field.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in an upscale salon or hospitality
and spa industry
